About Anness Publishing
Background
Anness Publishing was founded in 1988 and we are now the largest independent book publisher in the UK. In our first 15 years we sold in excess of 100,000,000 books.
Each year we produce around 300 new titles on subjects ranging from cooking and crafts to gardening, new age, reference, hobbies and transport plus a lively and successful list of pre-school activity and home study reference books for children.
Quality
The linking theme is that all the books are expertly and meticulously produced by one of the largest editorial teams in Britain, and every title in the programme is lavishly illustrated with high quality colour illustrations. For practical subjects the techniques, projects and recipes are always shown with step-by-step photography which we specially produce in-house.
Depth
Our back catalogue consists of over 3,000 titles, and we have generated over 400,000 colour images for which we own copyright.
Imprints
We have four thriving brands under which our books and materials are marketed:
LORENZ BOOKS is our trade sales imprint for new hardback titles, and is celebrating its 16th year in 2009. Lorenz has justifiably forged a reputation as one of the foremost imprints in illustrated publishing worldwide, and includes the prestigious, award-winning AQUAMARINE list of up-market lifestyle directories.
SOUTHWATER is our trade paperback imprint, renowned for its extremely competitive pricing policy, its fantastic content, wonderful packaging and the depth of its programme, which consists of over 700 backlist books and a new programme of 150 titles each year
HERMES HOUSE & PEONY PRESS are our imprints for non-trade sales, promotional sales and customised publishing for major customers.
PRACTICAL PICTURES is the photo-library of over 400,000 images we have generated in the process of developing our 3,000 titles in the past 15 years. It comprises over 160,000 pictures of food, cooking techniques, ingredients and finished recipes; over 50,000 pictures of gardening techniques, outdoor projects, garden plants and tools; and so on through New Age (massage, Feng Shui, herbalism, reflexology etc), Crafts, Animals, Children's activities, and much much more
